The health emergency caused by the COVID-19 pandemic has radically transformed early childhood education, challenging traditional methodologies and forcing a rethink of pedagogical processes. The objective of this study was to analyse early childhood education during the COVID-19 pandemic. To this end, a documentary review was carried out of 15 scientific articles published between 2016 and 2021, using content analysis to identify documentary aspects. The results showed that the transition to the virtual environment has widened the digital divide and limited the playful and affective experience, essential for the integral development of children, while highlighting the need for continuous training for educators and active participation of families. The crisis has prompted the reconstruction of an inclusive and resilient educational model, based on innovation, leadership and collaboration among all stakeholders.
